A committee formed by Minister of Finance Janardan Sharma to bring down interest rates before the upcoming election has suggested not to interfere in interest rates.
Moreover, they suggested maintaining the interest rates through competition.
The committee was headed by Babu Ram Subedi, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Finance with members from Nepal Rastra Bank, Bankers and the Private sector.
Commercial banks have published new interest rates for the upcoming month of Jestha. As per the published notices, the average interest rates of the banks have declined by a few points.
