Revenue Collection of Government Squeezes; Expenditure Explodes

The current expenses of the government has exceeded its revenue collection. The government collected 14.87 percent revenue of the targeted revenue in the first quarter, however, its expenses exceed the collection.

The government collected nearly Rs 208.58 billion in revenue by the end of the first quarter which is 14.87 percent of the total target. The government has targeted to collect Rs 1403.14 billion in revenue in the current FY.

Meanwhile, its total expenses has increased by 15 percent above the targeted expenses. It spent Rs 223.75 billion in current expenses which is 18.91 percent of total targeted expenses.

Similarly, the government spent Rs 19.68 billion in capital expenditure which is 5.17 percent of the targeted expenditure.

Moreover, the revenue collection of the government has declined to Rs 208 billion in the first quarter compared to Rs 255 billion of the corresponding period of the last FY.

The targeted revenue collection of the government for this FY is above the targeted revenue of the last FY. The government had targeted to collect Rs 1180 billion in the last FY which has increased to Rs 1403 billion in this year.
